SHAH ALAM: Defence Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Hussein today revealed that the Armed Forces will be leasing from the X-Band Satellite Communication from Astrium SAS of France – which is now part of the Airbus Defence and Space, a division under the Airbus Group.
He did not give further information on the subject but last week Armed Force chief Tan Sri Zulkifeli Zain the capability will be available in 2015.
“X-band satellite communications are used by military and government organisations for mission critical communications and is pivotal for when loss of communications is not an option. Astrium Services (part of the EADS Group) is dedicated to serving the communications needs of all its customers.
Headquartered in the UK, Astrium Services Government Communications division has operational locations at Hawthorn, Oakhanger, Colerne and Portsmouth, as well as corporate offices in Washington D.C, France, Germany, Norway and Macedonia.”
