Ukraine moved to reassure Pakistan that contracts for defense equipment will be honored despite the fallout stemming from its political instability and Russia’s annexation of Crimea.

Ukraine’s ambassador to Pakistan, H.E. Volodymyr Rakomov, stressed this in a meeting here today with Pakistani Minister for Defence Production Tanveer Hussain.

A British Army Agusta Westland Lynx AH.9A utility helicopter crashed in southern Afghanistan on 26 April, with the loss of all five on aboard, the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD) has confirmed.

The Army Air Corps (AAC) Lynx was on a routine training mission in Kandahar province when the accident happened, an MoD statement said. While the cause is being investigated, enemy action is not thought to have been a factor.

The Royal Malaysian Navy (TLDM) assured that Sabah waters was safe with the deployment of additional assets to avert any attempt by intruders to endanger the security of the country.

Region Two Navy Commander Rear Admiral Datuk Pahlawan Mohammad Rosland Omar said the navy currently had 23 assets that can be deployed at any one time if needed.

President Benigno Aquino III on Friday unveiled a plan to acquire more aircraft to boost the capability of the Philippine Air Force.

Presiding over the Air Force change of command in Lipa City, the President said the Armed Forces would purchase eight combat utility helicopters, six close air support aircraft, two-long range patrol aircraft, and radar systems.

“We intend to buy also full-motion flight simulator to improve the training of our pilots,” he said in a speech aired over state-run dzRB radio.

These are on top of the new FA50 from South Korea that will be delivered to the Air Force next year, Mr. Aquino said.

Improved RGP Designs are Challenge Bar Armor Manufacturers. Since their introduction in operational service in 1961 the Rocket Propelled Grenade Mk 7 (RPG-7) over nine million RPGs have been produced, and hundreds of thousands fired in combat in war zones around the world.

Although RPG-7s proved their battle effectiveness in every conflict since the 1970s, NATO and coalition forces were surprised and ill prepared when they first encountered RPGs in Iraq in 2004. At the time these weapons were used primarily against heavy armored fighting vehicles, while Improvised Explosive Devices (IED) were directed at the less protected or unprotected tactical vehicles.

Australia will order 58 more Lockheed Martin F-35A Lightning II fighters for $12.4 billion, the government said on April 23. Including jets the country has already ordered, the Royal Australian Air Force (RAAF) will be able to field three squadrons of the fifth-generation fighter.

TAIPEI: Two Taiwanese pilots were injured on Friday when their Apache attack helicopter crash landed on a building in northern Taiwan during a routine training mission, the military said.
The pilots were sent to a military hospital for treatment to slight  injuries after crashing on top of the three-storey building in Taoyuan county  but no civilians were hurt, a military official said.
