AIRBUS A400M SUCCESSFULLY DEMONSTRATES TANKER CAPABILITY

The Airbus A400M new generation airlifter has performed successfully air-to-air refuelling tests with a F/A-18 Hornet fighter. The tanker test campaign was developed in five flights in which the A400M performed 33 dry contacts and dispensed 18.6 tonnes of fuel to an F/A-18 Hornet in 35 wet contacts.

Deliveries of the A400M will take off at pace from later this month, with Airbus expecting to deliver another 10 of the type to France, Germany, Turkey and the UK by year-end.

In the picture is the two unit cockpits of the Airbus A400M numbered MSN22 and MSN23. Previous report note that the MSN22 belongs to the Royal Malaysia Air Force or the RMAF which is undergoing final assembly in the Airbus facilities in Spain.

Didalam gambar kelihatan dua unit kokpit Airbus A400M bernombor MSN22 dan MSN23. Ada laporan terdahulu mengatakan bahawa pendaftaran MSN22 ialah kepunyaan Tentera Udara Diraja Malaysia atau TUDM yang sedang didalam pemasangan peringkat akhir di fasiliti Airbus dekat Sepanyol

BHIC to build first littoral combat ship in 2015

Boustead Heavy Industries Corp Bhd (BHIC) expects to build the first littoral combat ship (LCS) early next year, under a RM9bil contract awarded to its associate company.

This, coupled with the group’s growing maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) business, will help the company improve its financial performance in the current financial year ending Dec 31, 2014.

“We are confident of doing much better this year. BHIC’s order book for shipbuilding and MRO for this year is more than RM500mil,” managing director Tan Sri Ahmad Ramli Mohd Nor told reporters after the company’s AGM yesterday.

The UK Royal Air Force halted operations with its brand-new Airbus A330 Voyager tanker/transports for 12 days last month after a pilot’s improperly-stowed camera became jammed next to one of its side-stick controls in flight and caused a sudden loss of altitude, according to a newly-published report.

Singapore said Thursday it would replace its ageing KC-135R air refuelling tankers made by US firm Boeing with Airbus's A330 Multi-Role Tanker Transport (MRTT) aircraft.

Defence Minister Ng Eng Hen told parliament of the decision to acquire the MRTT, which is based on the civilian A330 plane.

Boasting one of the fastest growing economies in the world is allowing Indonesia to invest much-needed funds in its military. After years of stagnation caused by the 1997 financial crisis, leading to most of Indonesia’s military acquisition programs being cancelled, the situation deteriorated further when the U.S.imposed an arms embargo in 1999 that lasted until 2005.

According to government and industry sources, Singapore has signed in 2013, a contract for the purchase of six A330 MRTT tanker. The aircraft supplied by Airbus Defence & Space, was preferred by the island state to its American and Israeli competitors. If confirmed, this good news will mark another commercial success for Airbus which to date has already delivered MRTTs to four countries.

MANILA - The Department of National Defense has named a Spanish aircraft company as the single calculated bidder that will supply three brand new medium-lift aircraft to the Philippine Air Force.

The DND Bids and Awards Committee said EADS Casa Airbus Military passed all the technical and financial specifications set by the committee.
