The Department of National Defense (DND) is planning to install equipment that would give the F/A-50 "Fighting Eagle" a "beyond visual range" (BVR) capability.

TNI mulai melatih pilot yang akan menerbangkan helikopter serang Apache sebagai salah satu kesiapan sebelum kedatangan alat tempur asal Amerika Serikat itu pada 2017. The E-2D Advanced Hawkeye officially became ready for tasking with Airborne Early Warning Squadron 125 (VAW-125) during a ceremony at Naval Station Norfolk Chambers Field, March 27. "This is a revolutionary jump in capabilities," said Capt. Todd Watkins, commander, Airborne Command Control and Logistics Wing. "The E-2D serves as the eyes of the fleet. If it's out there, we will see it."

The Oliver Hazard Perry guided missile frigates are one of the most numerous warships classes built since World War II. The first ships entered service in the 1980s, but many still serve under the flags of other nations, all of whom are intensely interested in keeping these vintage ships as effective as possible. With the last of the ships scheduled to leave US service by the fall of 2015, even more Perrys — commonly known as FFGs, or “figs” — will become available for foreign transfer and hence, in need of upgrades. 
Qatar has signed arms deals with US defense contractors amounting USD $7.6 billion.

The Qatari Armed Forces today announced deals with US weapons manufactures worth US $7.6 billion, including Apache helicopters, Javelin missiles and PAC 3 Patriot systems. The deals, announced at the Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition (DIMDEX), came in a string of announcements publicized on the last day of the show totaling 87 billion Qatar rials (US$23.9 billion), which included 17 Turkish fast patrol vessels and German tankers.

Presiden ketiga Republik Indonesia BJ Habibie menyinggung perkembangan teknologi yang ada di Indonesia khususnya bidang alat utama sistem persenjataan (alutsista) TNI. Habibie mengkritik langkah TNI dan Pemerintah Indonesia yang membeli Tank Leopard. Pembelian itu sia-sia. "Leopard itu untuk perang di padang pasir bukan di maritim dan sudah dibuktikan tank itu sudah ditinggalkan," ujar Habibie dalam seminar di Jakarta Pusat, Rabu (26/3/2014).

The Philippines will sign P23.7-billion worth of aircraft deals next week amid the military’s efforts to attain a minimum credible defense. The deals to be signed include the 12 lead-in trainer jets from South Korea (P18.9B) and eight combat utility helicopters (P4.9B) from Canada. The signing will be held on March 28 at the Department of National Defense Headquarters at Camp Aguinaldo. |
